Initial setup: Trim stems at a 45-degree angle and place in fresh, cool water immediately. Remove foliage below the waterline.
Daily care: Change water every 2-3 days and re-trim stems. Keep arrangements cool, away from direct sunlight and heat.
What to expect: Tulips will grow and bend toward light. Peonies open from buds over several days. This movement is normal.
Vase life: This varies by flower, but with proper care (a.k.a changing the water as often as possible) and using a clean vase, most spring flowers could last a few days.
Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and certain lilies are toxic to cats and dogs. If you have pets, check individual flower safety or browse pet-friendly alternatives like roses and sunflowers.
If your pet ingests toxic flowers, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Tulips, ranunculus, hyacinths, daffodils, and anemones are at their peak during spring. Availability varies week to week based on harvest timing and what's freshest.
Short answer, it depends! Some flowers can last up to 7-10 days with proper care. Change water regularly, keep cool, and re-trim stems to maximize vase life.
Some spring favorites like tulips and peonies are available year-round, but they're freshest during their natural spring season (March-May). Others like hyacinths are truly seasonal.
